Masabata Sebusi, 22, a University of the Free State student, is the co-founder of Sprout Africa which aims to tackle poverty, food insecurity coupled and nutrition deficits in South African communities.

The organisation aims to establish small scale farmers by mentoring and assisting them in modern farming techniques, and connecting them with local supermarkets for a source of income.

Thus far it has impacted the lives of 102 people who are now able to support over 500 people.

Masabata said the organisation's three main objectives are to provide food security to communities, provide a renewable and sustainable supply of energy, and to utilise water conservation modern agricultural techniques.
