Nkateko Mnisi

28-year-old Nkateko Mnisi’s passion for educating and supporting communities through quality healthcare has led to her becoming an advocate for the rights of doctors.

The Limpopo-based medical doctor studied medicine at the University of Cape Town and graduated cum laude in Advanced Health Management.

During her medical internship and community service she played a role in leading provincial and national levels of the Junior Doctors Association of South Africa (JUDASA) working to have the rights of junior doctors recognised, and providing them with support during their foundational years in the profession.

Mnisi is currently working as a paediatric medical officer and still advocates for the rights of doctors to work in quality conditions, so that they can provide better healthcare services to patients, through her work with the South African Medical Association. She has played a role in promoting medical circumcision and raising awareness around HIV and Aids, in collaboration with other healthcare organisations in the province.
