Thina Maqubela

Thina Maqubela, 29, is passionate about education and entrepreneurship, and strives to make a difference in society. At age 23 she was appointed as a Statistics lecturer at Rhodes University, where she is currently working.

Thina opened an academy called Maqubs Academy of Excellence, which provides tutoring services, township accommodation, academic support, career guidance and employment for university students. Most recently, she launched a girls' hostel for high school learners in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape.

She has also pioneered the Future Leaders Program (FLP) at the Ubuntu Education Fund in Port Elizabeth by designing a comprehensive support structure for grade 12 learners, preparing them for university.
